Preschool Teacher Mission: To provide Early Childhood Education to children ages 2 to 5 years old, where each Preschool Teacher is devoted to providing Biblical and academic learning in a family-friendly, safe, and nurturing environment.
Job functions and duties include:
- Plans, and implementation, of the curriculum in accordance with the mission, purpose, and philosophy of Love & Unity Christian Academy (LUKA), under the supervision of the Director.
- Is able to focus on individual children while being aware of what is happening throughout the classroom or in the yard.
- Keeps current developmental records and records observations of children in the class.
- Communicates regularly with parents via written note, email, telephone, or in person.
- Creates an atmosphere that is comfortable, colorful, eye-appealing, and uncluttered.
- Considers the outdoors part of the learning environment.
Qualities and qualifications, we desire in a candidate:
- Desire to educate and invest in the disciple of students in their relationship with the Lord.
- Good communication skills (both in articulation and listening), as well as relational skills in serving students and working with adults.
- Able to construct and apply developmentally appropriate lesson plans and practices in teaching.
- 12 ECE unit’s minimum
- Minimum 1-year teaching experience.
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences. Energetic.
- Team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional.
- Flexible.
- Able to sit on the floor, squat down to child’s eye level, and lift up to50 lbs. Be capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom.
- Maintain a professional self-image and always project the values of the organization.
- Canidate must attend and be in good standing at your local church
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be CPR and First Air certified.
- Submit to various background checks including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Child Abuse Central Index (CACI).
- Required Immunization: MMR, TDAP, and Influenza immunization.
- Mandated Reporter: Clearance
- Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician’s documentation of both.
- Be available for full-time employment
- Have dependable transportation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree (i.e., AA, BA/S, etc.)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (Not Required)
